Peterhead’s all-weather pitch at Catto Park is set to receive a much-needed makeover as part of a £2.5m pgoramme of planned maintenance for the financial year.

The package was given the go-ahead by councillors at a meeting of the local authority’s policy and resources committee on Thursday.

In addition a provisional £7m programme for the following two years was also presented to elected members.

Some of these projects could be brought forward if there is any slippage to the ones planned for this year.

The Maintenance Strategy includes the aim to replace all single-glazed steel framed windows in schools with appropriate double-glazed units; upgrade electrical services which will reduce energy consumption and improve toilets

Also included in the projects scheduled for this year are various improvements to Aden Country Park in Mintlaw, an upgrade to All Weather Pitch at Catto Park in Peterhead, and upgrading the windows at Peterhead Academy.

This expenditure complements programmes that are funded by other lines in the Capital Plan including school enhancements, new secondary schools in Alford, Ellon and Mearns and improved disabled access to educational facilities.
