Pity it was just for ‘One Night Only’!

Home-grown talent Alasdair Corbett and Stephanie Wemyss headed up a musical spectacular at Peterhead Theatre last weekend.

‘For One Night Only’ featured some well-known and not so well-known faces in a two-hour spectacular which covered a host of musical genres and all in aid of charity CLIC Sargent,.

Jason McGee provided the essential commentary in his own inimitable style throughout the evening and provided the laughs with his own updated version of a Scotland the What classic.

Singers for the evening were Amanda Watt, Ali Corbett, Steph Wemyss, Joanne Peacock, Rhea Forman, Lynsey Cradock, Lynn Sandison, Chelcie Grant, Victoria Cowan and Rhona Johnston.

They were accompanied by pianist Craig McDermott, who himself was an absolute star on the ivories.

With a packed house - the evening being in aid of CLIC Sargent - the performers took to the stage and thoroughly deserved the standing ovation which greeted them at the end.

Particular mention must go to Steph and Jo who gave a fab rendition of the Barbara Dickinson, Elaine Paige classic ‘I know Him So Well’ and to Ali and Amanda who delivered ‘The Prayer’ in parts in perfect Italian.

It was certainly show-stopping stuff and greeted with rapturous applause from the audience.

It’s perhaps unfair to select a few highlights as the whole show was a belter.

They have, thankfully, got the sound sorted out at the theatre and not a note was missed by the audience - nor the singers - with the songs delivered in crystal clarity.

I can’t praise the evening highly enough and it’s fantastic that we have such incredible talent on our doorstep.

It’s a pity it was just ‘For One Night Only’ as I’m sure it could have filled the theatre every night for a week such was the quality of the evening.

Indeed, perhaps the team could video their efforts next time as I’m sure the sale of DVDs to those who went along - and those who missed out - would further raise the total.

Congratulations to all involved and I can only hope that Alasdair and co will return again in the very near future to give us another superb show.
