FORMER pupils of St John’s School in New Pitsligo got together last week for a reunion, having not seen one another for over 50 years.
Organised by Ronald Scott and his wife Catherine, who met in the class, as well as Eunice Scott and Alex Laird, the group got together for a tour around the old school and an evening meal in the Pitsligo Arms Hotel.
The class joined Primary 1 together in 1949, and left school at the age of 15 in 1959, when they reached third year, a few of the pupils moving to Fraserburgh Academy.
The pupils were also joined by their past teachers Leslie Milne who taught Geography and Englihs and David Bruce who taught English and History.
One of the pupils, Alex Laird, said: “It was an excellent day and the reunion was a great success.
“Headteacher at the school Mrs Thomson was very welcoming and very informative telling us how the school had changed over the years. It has changed greatly and the majority of us had never seen it since we left 52 years ago. When we were there it was both a primary and secondary school so this is one of the biggest changes.
“We were very thankful for the efforts both Ronald and Catherine put into the reunion.”
