A Peterhead music school has recently taken on two new teachers, who coincidentally have both been winners of Peterhead’s Got Talent.

Get Rhythm Music School is proud to announce their latest teachers are Emma Hogarth and Kimberley Kaminski who are both from Peterhead.

Emma, 20, won the Scottish Week talent competition this year while Kimberley, also 20, won the contest last year as part of local band Raw Stereo.

The teachers share more in common than just winning Peterhead’s Got Talent, as they both have a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Music.

Music School owner, Bryan Porter, said: “Get Rhythm has set its standards high with well qualified and experienced young musicians who we hope will in turn pass on their knowledge and skills to their pupils.”

Kimberley, better known as Kimmy, has been studying at North East Scotland College for three years and has gained a pass in ABRSM Music Theory grade 5 and hopes to further her studies.

She has been playing bass for six years and can teach up to grade 8 playing level.

Kimberley plays bass for Raw Stereo, who have supported pop group The Saturdays and have also played at London’s O2 Arena.

Fellow teacher Emma has also successfully completed three years at North East Scotland College and will graduate in October.

She has recently started teaching guitar at Get Rhythm Music School with her next steps being to progress through the teaching diplomas.

Emma learned to play guitar aged 12 and now has a grade 5 in music theory and is at a grade 7/8 guitar playing level.

She believes that anyone can learn the guitar and would love to bring more music into the community.

As well as teaching, Emma also enjoys performing and is currently the bassist of local alternative rock band, Cold Heat.

However at her recent Peterhead’s Got Talent performance, she won by showcasing her own songs as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter.

Emma teaches guitar at Get Rhythm but can also offer piano lessons for beginners, while Kimberley teaches both guitar and bass.
