Peterhead fashion show raises over £1.7k for charity

A Peterhead Relay for Life team have raised named in memory of a members brother and nephew have raised over £1700 at a fashion show.

The Davie and Fraser Gang raised £1,724.50 for next years Relay for Life by hosting a fashion show at The Palace Hotel on Thursday evening.

The team is named after the brother and nephew of one of the team members, Linda Hutchison, who sadly died from cancer within a month of each other.

Linda said: “We wanted to give something back.”

The fashion show is The Davie and Fraser Gang’s first fundraiser for next year’s Relay for Life.

Linda said: “It went really well and we got a good crowd.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

“We raised £1,724.50 and we’re very pleased with that, it was brilliant.”

The Relay team are now hoping to hold other charity fundraisers on the run up to Christmas.

Linda said: “We’re hoping to do some Christmas things, like some afternoon tea with Santa - where kids can come and meet Santa.”

This years 2016 Relay for Life in Peterhead proved to be the town’s most successful ever.

The event raised £219, 353 for charity Cancer Research UK, beating the previous Peterhead record from 2014 by £13,000.

The 2017 Relay for Life, including The Davie and Fraser Gang, will be held between July 1 and 2.
