A care home in Peterhead has issued an appeal for donations of spare wool.

Allandale House on the town’s Catto Drive is asking members of public to donate any spare balls of wool to be used by residents at the home.

Speaking to the Buchan Observer, Deputy Manager of Allandale House Mandy McCombie said residents love to knit - including everything from toys to blankets. She added that they might even be organising a stall of knitted items later in the year.

The last time Allandale House issued an appeal wool - in 2007 - staff and residents were overwhelmed by the fantastic response from the public.

Commenting, Mandy McCombie said: “We’re looking for donations of wool of any colour or any thickness.

“Last time, we had a really good response - but our supply of wool is dwindling down a bit now.”

If anyone would like to make a donation - no matter how large or small the amount - please hand in any spare wool to Allandale House directly.
