CLERKHILL Primary School bid a fond farewell to some of its PSA and Parent Council members and probationary teachers last week.

The school had a day of celebrations last Thursday, where the primary 7 pupils were also wished well for their future at Peterhead Academy.

Headteacher Janet Anderson told the Buchanie: “Thursday was a very special and sad day at Clerkhill School where we had to say farewell to some of our treasured members of the PSA and Parent Council.”

Mandy Dickson and Rhonda Thomson, members of the PSA and the Parents Council, as well as chairperson of both groups, Helen Brown, will be moving on from their roles at the school as their children move up to Peterhead Academy.

Rhonda has been a member of both groups for ten years, Mandy for seven years and chairperson Helen has spent 12 years in total supporting the school.

Helen said: “We’re all upset about leaving, and I’m sure if we were all asked back to help out we’d be willing to, if they’d take us!

“Clerkhill is a great primary school, we’ve met a lot of good friends here.”

Mrs Anderson said: “We’ll miss all of the parents who have to move on with their children, Helen has done anything and everything she can for the school and we wish them all well.”

The school also had to say goodbye to three probation teachers they had with them over the last year.

Eimear McKenna, Kate Smith and Jennifer Bright will all be moving on to other things and were presented with gifts at last weeks assembly.

Eva Borbely, a Hungarian teacher was also congratulated on completing her probationary period, and has done a lot of work at schools in the Peterhead area.

“The school would like to wish all of the probation teachers we had great success in their future, they have all played a vital role at the school and they do a huge amount of work.”

Congratulations is also in order for the headteacher herself, Mrs Anderson who, as well as fellow teacher Lindsay Kane, will get married during the summer holidays.
