Two Buchan men will be taking on an epic cyling challenge in the name of charity later this month.

Paul Finnie from Fetterangus and Mark Cobban from Longside are set to cycle 930 miles over nine days from the southern tip of Cornwall to the northern tip of the Highlands.

The pair will be raising funds for Kayleigh’s Wee Stars and will kick-off their fundraising challenge on June 24 with the aim of finishing on July 3.

Kayleigh’s Wee Stars provides financial support for families where there is a child with a terminal illness.

In the last thre years it has donated over £250,000 to almost 100 families across Scotland. It relies on support to ensure that it can continue to help brave families make precious memories together.

As well as fundraising, the pair are seeking sponsors to help with the logistics of their adventure.

“Essentially, we are asking local businesses to consider sponsoring us in any way, to help maximise the amount of money we can raise for Kayleigh’s Wee Stars,” explained Paul.

“The main return we can offer is publicity, primarily through our Facebook page. Posting daily updates on progress of a tour of Scotland, we were receiving up to 3500 views on a daily basis, within the blogs thanking the businesses that had offered support,” he added.

If anyone can help, the FB blog can be found by searching for ‘Tour de Scotland’ on Facebook, while their Just Giving site is www.justgiving.com/minifin
