Overturned lorry causes traffic chaos

A lorry overturned at the Invernettie Roundabout on the outskirts of Peterhead on Wednesday, March 11.

Police Scotland received a call about the incident on the A90 at 11.27am but luckily there were no injuries.

A local fire crew attended the scene and used some spill kits to stop diesel entering nearby drains.

Access to South Road and the Peterhead ASCO base was blocked as a crane was brought in to uplift the lorry.

While the main route into Peterhead was closed off, bus provider Stagecoach diverted their services via Mintlaw leaving passengers in Hatton and Cruden Bay without any services.

The Peterhead bypass was also blocked with vehicles trying to access the closed roundabout.

The roundabout and surrounding roads were reopened after three hours and bus services resumed as normal.

Police Scotland thanked motorists for their patience while the lorry was moved.
