The spirit of everyone that took part in the Peterhead Relay for Life at Catto Park over the weekend was outstanding.

It may have rained for the first seven hours of the event but there was certainly no sign of dampened spirits.

The Opening Ceremony was typical of the spirit shown throughout the day by the 23 teams and volunteers.

Those taking part in the Relay for Life were moved to see the 52 survivors at the start but they proved to be an inspiration to all.

The youngest survivor at the event was three-year-old Nicole Millar, whose smile and courage melted everybody’s hearts.

Hida, the oldest survivor aged 91, was in attendance too and inspired everyone.

Young Bethany Smith (17) moved everyone with her survivors speech.

Peterhead Relay for Life chairperson Lorraine Coleman said: “Well done to all - survivors, teams, volunteers and the public - for making this such a memorable day.

“Thank you to everyone for raising a fantastic £147,848 for Cancer Research UK so hopefully we can help to “Beat cancer sooner!”
