A highlight of the 2012 sound Festival of new music is set to be staged in Fraserburgh Lighthouse this weekend.
‘Last One Out’, a co-commission from sound and Scottish Opera, is a new work by the leading composer, Gareth Williams.
The performances on Saturday form part of a weekend of events that take opera out of the concert hall and into some unusual spaces. Other works will be performed in a stables, at a desk, in a pub and even on a bus.
Gareth’s piece invites the audience to imagine what it would be like if we had a direct channel to the past and indeed if the past was never really dead, but just waiting for a light to be shone upon it. A late night radio host has an unsettling encounter with a caller meanwhile a grief-stricken man returns to a lighthouse he visited as a child and begins to hear voices of the past long since buried.
The World Premiere of Last One Out is at 3.30pm on Saturday with a further performance at 6pm.
Tickets for Last One Out at Fraserburgh Lighthouse priced £10, £5 (students, under 18s & jobseekers) are available on 01224 641122 or online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com
