Peterhead Scottish Week organisers have launched their search to find this year’s Buchan Queen.

Judges will select this year’s Queen and Princesses at a special evening at the town’s Waterside Inn on Saturday, May 24.

The Scottish Week committee is encouraging young ladies in the local area to come forward to be the face of the town’s gala week.

Scottish Week treasurer, Graham Barron, says he is confident there will be a stunning line-up of local girls aged 18 and over at the Waterside Inn on Saturday, May 24 when the Buchan Queen and her two Princesses will be chosen.

As in previous contests, Scottish Week organisers are encouraging local businesses to nominate a member of their staff for the contest. But of course, nominations can be made by anyone, including the young women themselves

This year’s Buchan Queen judging night will be hosted once again by Original 106’s Ritchie Grant.

All Buchan Queen hopefuls must be free for the whole of Scottish Week, which runs from the July 19 to 27, to carry out all their duties and to participate in a week of fun.

To be eligible for the coveted title, they must also be 18 years or over on July 19, 2014

Anyone wishing to enter this year’s competition can do so by filling out the application form in this coming week’s Buchanie and sending it to Karen Day, Waterside Inn, Britannia Hotel, Fraserburgh Road, Peterhead, AB42 3BN to arrive no later than Wednesday, May 7.

The local media star judges, including stars from STV, Original 106 and Northsound, will select this year’s Buchan Queen and Princesses at the special evening.

All Buchan Queen hopefuls will receive a complimentary photo session by award-winning professional photographer Philip Stewart at Philip Stewart Photographics, and the winning girls will not only have the accolade of being crowned Buchan Queen and Princess 2014 but will win cash prizes of £250 for the Queen and £150 for each princess as well as a number of goodies.

The Queen will also win a weekend away for two at any Britannia hotel as well as meal vouchers for the Waterside Inn and a gym membership.
