Members of Aberdeenshire Council‘s Buchan Area Committee last week considered a planning application for a new house and garage at Eastburn House at Inverugie.
The committee heard from planning officer Wendy Forbes who raised concerns about how the proposed development by applicant Mr K. Oliphant would fit in with the design of neighbouring properties.
She commented: “We have always had concerns about the design. There is a significant mix of house types in the group of nearby properties.
“However, design is now much higher up on the agenda when it comes to applications.”
The committee also heard that the applicant raised the proposed height of the roof in order to comply with planning guidelines, and that the development would not be visable from the road.
Councillor Alan Gardiner commented that the appicant had fallen between two sets of planning policies.
Chairman of the Buchan Area Committee, Councillor Stuart Pratt, proposed a visit to the Inverugie site.
Following a vote by councillors, a decision on the development was deferred to allow for a site visit.
