After 18 years as Honorary Secretary of Peterhead Burns Club, Hugh Livingston has handed over the reins of responsibility.

Andrew Bruce is a partner in Masson & Glennie, and was formally welcomed to the post at this year’s AGM on Tuesday, March 14.

Andrew will prove an asset to the Club as the 18th Honorary Secretary of this ancient and revered club.

Hugh’s many years in office, not only as Hon. Secretary but in 32 years as an Ordinary Member of Committee has seen the Club go from strength to strength to its current situation with a total Life Membership of 292 plus a long waiting list of 93.

Among the many changes Hugh and his team brought to the annual Suppers was the introduction of new seating arrangements.

This fundamental change has proved to be most successful and is very popular with members who previously had to arrive in the hall several hours before the Supper in order to secure their preferred seats at their favoured table.

Over his years in office Hugh has stressed that he has always had the unfailing full support of a very willing and conscientious Committee.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support he had received from his family and in particular his daughter, Susan who was of considerable help to him in devising the new seating arrangements when they were first introduced a few years ago.

Hugh, now serving as Vice President of the Club, remains in office as an Ordinary Member of Committee.
