Two wooden flower barrels have vanished without a trace in Stuartfield.

The large plant pots, which sat either side of a bench on Burnett Street near the village centre, have been missing since before Christmas.

Neither Aberdeenshire Council nor Stuartfield Community Association have moved the barrels and have no information as to their whereabouts.

Community association member, Billy Rennie, told the Buchanie that no-one seems to know where they are.

“It was the week before Christmas when I first noticed them missing and started to make enquires,” he said.

“I spoke to the chairman and secretary of the community association but no one seemed to know where they had gone.”

Mr Rennie, who has lived in Stuartfield for more than 30 years, added: “If they have been stolen then it’s a shame that someone would come along and put a mar on the work that volunteers do for the village.

Mr Rennie also confirmed that due to the size and weight of the barrels it would most likely take more than one person to move them.

“The barrels have been there for years and have just recently been replaced and updated.

“I’ve looked around the village myself and there is no sign of barrels where there shouldn’t be barrels.

“The people in the Stuartfield are very proud of the village and we have put a lot of time and effort into the upkeep of the beauty of our community land.

“It would be nice if we could find out where they are but for now hopefully we can get them replaced.

“If someone did steal them they are the lowest of the low. The barrels are not that expensive to buy,” he added.
