A Mintlaw man is to run the Edinburgh Marathon later this month.
Iain Wood will take part in the running challenge to raise money for Spinal Injuries Scotland, and will join a group of around 12 taking part in the event on May 26.
Iain decided to take part in the challenge because in 1995 his dad, Mitch, had an accident which left him confined to a wheelchair.
Iain, said: “I owe it to both my parents for everything they have done for me and continue to do.
“I held a fundraising event for my 30th birthday in 2009 and raised £575 which was donated to the spinal unit at Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital where my dad spent five months after his accident.
“I have been running since 2006 and built my way up to half marathon level.
“In 2010 I joined Jogscotland Peterhead and since then have built up the number of times I have trained and made many friends.”
Iain continued: “I am running for Spinal Injuries Scotland which provides help and support for people and their families who have suffered from such injuries.
“I am aiming for under four-and-a-half hours but the main aim is to finish and raise as much money as possible for the charity.
“I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far and the training is going really well.”
