The deadline for applicants interested in taking on the role of Mintlaw Gala chairperson has been extended.

The current chairperson has been unable to commit to the role for three years due to other commitments, but unfortunately at the last meeting of the Mintlaw Gala group on Friday, October 21, it was not possible to elect a new chair.

The deadline for new applications has been extended to allow anyone interested to come forward.

A spokesperson for Mintlaw Gala said: “Should no-one come forward and be elected by the current committee at this point it will be with sad hearts that we have to confirm that there will be no Mintlaw Gala in 2017.

“The Gala weekend is a highlight of many people’s year and we know its absence will disappoint many, therefore we make this last plea for someone to come forward to take on the role.”

The chairperson will be expected to follow an established timeline and lead meetings.

Following this year’s successful Gala, the committee have distributed £10,000 to local groups including three schools and sheltered accommodation.

A meeting will be held on Thursday, November 24 at 7.30pm in the Garret Lounge and all are welcome to attend.
