A couple from Mintlaw have marked their golden wedding anniversary by hosting a dinner and dance at the Ban Car Hotel.

Rosie and Philip Bremner, who have lived in Mintlaw for the past 14 years, celebrated 50 years of marriage on March 28.

To mark the special occasion, the couple had a meal and dance at the Ban Car Hotel with around 75 family and friends.

Remarkably, the same musicians who played at Rosie and Philip’s wedding in 1964 returned to play at their anniversary dinner and dance half a century later.

The couple had not one but two bands playing at their golden wedding celebration.

Donside Sound entertained Rosie and Philip’s guests as well as Sandy Milne’s Band who played at the couple’s wedding.

Keyboard player Molly Conn, who is also a member of Donside Sound, played at Rosie and Philip’s wedding when she was just 15.

Meanwhile, Sandy Milne was band leader and Ian Greig was on guitar and vocals.

All three played at both the wedding and anniversary dance.

Rosie is originally from Rhynie and Philip is from Huntly and they married at Rhynie Parish Church on March 28, 1964.

Rosie and Philip moved to Longside in 1968 and have lived in the Buchan area ever since.

The couple have one son, Stephen, and two daughters, Jacqueline and Susan.

They also have eight grandchildren.

Rosie and Philip said they received a host of flowers and cards from family and friends to mark their milestone anniversary.

Instead of gifts, the couple asked family members and friends to make a donation if they wished, with the Mintlaw Surgery Diabetic Clinic being their chosen charity.

Commenting on the couple’s golden anniversary dance, Rosie said: “It was a very excellent night. It went past far too fast.”

Philip commented: “One or two of the couples who attended the celebration asked us when the next one would be!

“The food and the music was excellent and Tina at the Ban Car Hotel was very helpful.”
