His journey began with a few laps around the pitch before heading off.

Peterhead Football Club general manager Nat Porter wished Martin luck and presented him with a PFC scarf.

Martin decided to take on the challenge in memory of his best friends Mark and Lisa’s son Archie, who was born sleeping on Boxing Day.

The cycle challenge will see him visit stadiums from Inverness to Edinburgh.

On the build up to the start of the challenge, Martin received various signed items from a number of clubs including Hearts, Hamilton, Dundee United, Motherwell, Celtic, Rangers and Partick Thistle.

Martin raffled these items at a fundraising event held at the Buchanhaven Hearts Social Club on Friday, June 5.
