A man was rescued from a burning hotel in Peterhead early this morning.
Fire crews were called to the blaze at the Waverley Hotel in the town’s Merchant Street at 4.13am.
One man was lead to safety from the third floor and is understood to be suffering from smoke inhalation.
At the height of the fire, 35 firefighters from across Buchan were on the scene.
Two engines from Peterhead were quickly joined by two appliances from Ellon and another from Maud and Fraserburgh respectively.
A specialist from the fire investigation unit in Aberdeen has begun looking into the blaze.
Scottish Fire and Rescue could not confirm at this time whether or not the fire is being treated as suspicious.
St Andrew Street, which had been closed after the incident, has now been reopened to traffic.
