The MACBI (Mintlaw and Central Buchan Initiative) Community Hub finally opened for the first time last weekend.

The new community and sports facility, located just off Newlands Road inMintlaw, had previously been scheduled to open at the beginning of March but opened its doors for the first time on Saturday, April 5.

MACBI Chairman, councillor Norman Smith said: “It was a very good weekend, we had well over 100 children use the soft play area and lots of residents took the opportunity to have a look around.

“It is good to see the centre open at long last and we will have an official opening event in the next few months.”

Manager Michael Watson said: “It was busy throughout both days and has become busier since thanks to the school holidays.

He added: “We are pleased with the positive feedback we have received from the public so far and classes are still available for booking.”

The centre can host meetings, corporate events, children’s parties, cinema events, dance classes and various other sporting activities with a list of classes now available including Studio Cycle, Zumba, Metafit and Blendertone.

The fitness suite and impressive indoor soft play area are now available to use as is the coffee shop, which has been leased by Symposium.

The MACBI Community Hub is open from 9am to 10pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm at the weekend.
