A local woman has had her hair shaved off to raise money for the Peterhead Relay for Life in support of Cancer Research UK.
Lorna Kurilko went to Dare Salon in Aberdeen on Saturday, February 8 where hairdresser Neil agreed to shave her head.
Lorna said: “I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2005 and went through Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatment.
“Thankfully I’m in remission and truly grateful for the extension to my life.
“I donated my locks to the Little Princess Trust and any funds raised will go towards our Relay for Life Fundraising Team total.”
Lorna has managed to raise around £1240, a lot more than she had originally planned as she explained: “My own personal goal was to boost the team fund total and hopefully raise £300 but I am delighted that this target has been smashed!
“Thanks to my colleagues and the managment team at Orion Group, and everyone who has contributed so far.
“I’m delighted with the response I’ve received and admittedly enjoying my new aerodynamic look, life’s a lot easier in the mornings now!”
Further donations can be given online at relay.cancerresearchuk.org, search Peterhead and click on Lorna Kurilko.
The Peterhead Relay for Life team have organised various events throughout the year with the Relay for Life 24 hour walk taking place in July.
Peterhead Relay for Life would like to invite survivors as their special guests on the day.
The team will enjoy seeing how everyone has been fundraising.
