Members from St Kane’s Church in New Deer have been busy putting together packs for babies and new mums in Malawi.

Chair of the Twinning Committee, Anne Melia, made an appeal to church members to bring in unused baby items such as hats, mittens, socks and baby grows and items for new mums including soap and toothpaste so they could create a number of packs to be sent via their twin chruch M’buka CCAP in Malawi.

A little card will be included in each pack and written in their own language to explain where they came from.

The packs will go to the maternity hospital as Anne explained: “Many babies are low birth weight or undernourished and leave hospital soon after birth to an uncertain future.

“By providing these packs we know both mum and baby have the essentials for a while and will know that they are not forgotten.”
