Earlier this month more than 30 of Peterhead’s Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) took a tour of the area in which the project is based.
The team away day saw the group from Shell visit the lightouse at Boddam (pictured), Longhaven Hall, Peterhead’s Fish Market, and the Buchan Braes hotel.
Shell spokesman Denise Horan said: “The day had two objectives: to help us all to get to know each other and understand each other’s ways of working, so that we can work optimally as a team; to give the team an insight into, and understanding of, life in Boddam, Peterhead and surrounding areas, as this is the area in which our project will be based.
“Overall, it was an excellent day, which the whole team enjoyed thoroughly.
“The weather was fantastic, so the walk along the cliffs was spectacular (and we saw a puffin), but the warmth and hospitality of the local people we met really stood out for everyone.”
The CCS scheme would see one million tonnes of waste carbon dioxide from the plant collected and transported to offshore reserviors for long-term, eco-friendly storage.
