A team of young people who spent three months working in the Peterhead community to turn their lives around celebrated their success at a graduation ceremony last week.

Aberdeen Foyer’s Prince’s Trust Team 32 held their final presentation at Peterhead’s Palace Hotel on Thursday, April 17.

During the ceremony each of the 13 team members, aged between 16-25, gave a speech and thanked organisers for their help

Team leader Bryan Mackay said: “Tonight is a celebration of everything we’ve been working on over the last 60 days.

“I think they’ve gained in confidence and self esteem and a sense of belief that they can achieve something.

This year’s team were the first to decorate two different projects at once.

The group spent time at the sprucing up The Trading Post’s new Marischal Street premises as well as Peterhead’s Learning House.

Two of the team have found employment from the work placements they undertook.

Mr Mackay added: “The team are leaving with a real sense of pride.”

Mr Mackay is moving on from his position as team leader to take over as the delivery partner manager overseeing teams in Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Aberdeen.

“I’m going out on a high. Every team has been fantastic and it’s testament to the young people in the North East of Scotland.

“I want the young people to be more successful and to see tonight and believe they can be part of it because there’s so much talent in this area.”

Every year the trust works with 40,000 young people in the UK.
