Police officer on trial

An ABERDEENSHIRE Police Sergeant who allegedly collected indecent pictures of children will stand trial in Peterhead later this month.

Neil Gordon Shand is accused of collecting the indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children at his home in Aberchirder between January 8 and December 15, 2010.

The 49-year-old is also charged with taking or permitting the indecent pictures to be taken during the same period.

Shand denies the charges and will be tried before a jury later this month.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: “We are aware of the case but as it is now in the hands of the Crown, we are unable to comment at this time.”
