Peterhead limbers up for Running Festival

The fourth annual Peterhead Running Festival was officially launched last week with the help of the kids of Buchanhaven School.

Spokesman for the festival organising committee Stephen Bruce said: “It will be really memorable and we are hoping that there is a massive turnout.”

Shell will again sponsor the event which will include the Shell School Fun Runs in partnership with Aberdeenshire Active Schools.

Last year, more than 450 children from 36 schools across Aberdeenshire took part.

Shell’s interim gas plant manager at St Fergus, Gavin Eddie, said: “It’s important for Shell to be involevd in local projects that bring the community together.

“We hope that the Shell Fun Runs will provide the inspiration, motivation and excitement to get more people active.”

Other events and activities include the Shell 5km - part of the JogScotland Challenge series - and the Peterhead half marathon.
