Extensive fire damage at Victoria Bowling Club, Peterhead

Police are carrying out investigations after three fires broke out in Peterhead within minutes of each other.

The Victoria Bowling Club pavillion on Victoria Street was destroyed while fire crews were also called out to two buildings at nearby Wilson Street early on Sunday morning.

The first fire occurred at the former ship’s chandler located beside Clever Tots Nursery while another started at the Ken Cassell Ltd fish merchant building.

It was reported to the emergency services at 3.15am at the Victoria Street bowling club where firefighters battled flames for around an hour.

The next fire at the Wilson Street fish merchant’s was reported at 3.30am and the third was reported at 3.45am.

Fire crews from Peterhead, Maud, Fraserburgh, Ellon and Aberdeen were called out to help with the incidents.

Officers from Police Scotland sealed off the buildings to protect members of the public while beginning their investigations on the fires which they believe are linked.
