Multi-agency meeting to discuss Shire flooding

A multi-agency meeting will be held to discuss recent flooding which has affected residents of Aberdeenshire.

Aberdeenshire Council, Grampian Police and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are among the agencies attending the meeting in Stonehaven on Tuesday, January, 29.

The meeting will be chaired by Aberdeenshire Council’s chief executive Colin Mackenzie and will begin with short presentations from the council, SEPA, Grampian Police and the Scottish Flood Forum.

There will then be an opportunities for guests to ask questions of the various agency representatives in attendance.

Officers from the various agencies will give a summary of the flooding across Aberdeenshire on Saturday, December 15 and also on Sunday, December 23, including the weather and environmental conditions, actions taken by relevant agencies during the emergency and subsequently.

Presentations will also include details of the work undertaken by the council following severe flooding in 2009.

Aberdeenshire Council continues to work to repair damage to its properties, roads, bridges and other infrastructure caused by storms and flooding that swept across the region in December 2012.

To date over 100 separate issues have been identified, while estimation of costs is still at a very early stage.
