Staff and pupils at Kininmonth School bid farewell to head teacher Mrs Wood at the end of term as she retired after 33 years of service.
Margaret Wood originally started working at the school as a class teacher for primary one to four children in August 1981, but later took over as head teacher.
Margaret had worked at other teaching posts for six years before making the move to Kininmonth, so in total, Margaret has been teaching for the last 39 years.
Speaking to the Buchanie about her decision to leave Kininmonth, Margaret said: “I have enjoyed my time here at the school but now with so many new initiatves we have to take on board, I feel that maybe now someone younger with more energy should take the post.
“When you are 60-years-old you can’t run around as much as you used to!”
Asked what she will do with her time from now on, Margaret said: “My niece is getting married in September in Canada so I’m looking forward to going there and next year, myself and my husband will be going to the Monaco Grand Prix.
“It has been on both our bucket lists so we went ahead and booked it.”
Margaret was surprised with leaving gifts from pupils and staff after she had finished presenting her final school prizegiving ceremony on Tuesday, July 1.
