The RNLI Peterhead Tamar Lifeboat ‘The Misses Robertson of Kintail’ launched on Tuesday afternoon to aid a Peterhead vessel.

The Lifeboat and its volunteer crew were called out at 3.30pm to rescue the ‘Fruitful Bough’ as it was without steerage 3 miles south-east of Peterhead.

The lifeboat towed the fishing vessel to Peterhead harbour.

Andy Brown, Peterhead lifeboat coxswain said: “Without any means of steering the vessel it proved to be a very challenging tow.”

After the lifeboat and casualty reached Peterhead harbour, the tow was taken over and the fishing boat was berthed by a harbour tug.

The lifeboat was then stood down and returned to its berth at 6.30 pm.

Peterhead Lifeboat is always interested to hear from anyone wishing to help save lives at sea by joining the fundraising team, or the crew.

If you have some spare time to help out or you have what it takes to be a member of the lifeboat crew, contact Peterhead lifeboat station on 01779 473331.
