Anna Ritchie School pupil Jake Buchan has been praised for his Burns recital skills.

A 15-year-old Peterhead school pupil has been celebrated for his Burns poetry recital skills.

Jake Buchan from the town’s Anna Ritchie School gave the address to the haggis at a Burns supper at Aberdeen’s Cults Academy in late March.

He has since been presented with a certificate of achievement from the Robert Burns World Federation for being part of their schools festival.

Jake said: “I’ve been a Burns fan since I was nine or 10 years old.

“His poetry has a great history. He was just a poor farmer and I think that’s really interesting.

“I’ve been down to his house and it was a great experience.”

Deputy head Catriona Crichton, who was with Jake at Cults, said the whole school is very proud of his achievement.
