Harbour open day success
THOUSANDS of folk flocked to this year's Peterhead Harbours Open Day to support the work of the RNMDSF in the town.
This year's event, which was bathed in glorious sunshine, was officially opened by Mrs Anne Wolrige-Gordon, whose late husband Patrick was the MP for East Aberdeenshire and was a valued member of the local advisory committee for Peterhead Fishermen's Mission for a number of years.
A host of stalls were present at this year's event - the last to be organised by outgoing Superintendent George Shaw, who is moving to Eyemouth in October.
And the folk of Peterhead and the surrounding area made sure George got a resounding send-off as they packed the old fishmarket to enjoy music, singing, puppets, cakes, teas, soup, burgers, strawberries and ice-cream, locally sourced fresh fish, and a host of charity stalls.
Speaking on Saturday, Mr Shaw told the Buchanie: "It's great that the sun is shining and the stalls are busy.
"I can't believe the number of people who are here today and it's just fantastic that they have come along to support the work of the Mission.
"I would like to thank everyone who has supported this event in any way."
See next week's Buchanie for pictures galore from the popular event.
