Drugs busts in Peterhead and Fraserburgh

POLICE have seized thousands of pounds in cash, and heroin and cocaine with a street value of around £4,000.

Officers from Peterhead CID, the proactive unit and local policing teams carried out the intelligence-led enforcement which resulted in dealer quantities of heroin being recovered.

Police recovered a four-figure sum of money in addition to the banned substances.

Officers also confirmed that during the operation referrals had been made to the Community Substance Misuse Service.

The raid comes as part of a unique collaborative approach to tackle illegal drugs and substance misuse in Aberdeenshire, bringing together Grampian Police and Aberdeenshire Council’s Community Substance Misuse Teams.

Detective Constable Alan Low said: “We will continue the two pronged approach to tackling illegal drugs and the associated issues in Aberdeenshire.

“This success sends a very clear signal that we will make Aberdeenshire as hostile an environment as possible for those involved in drug supply while also helping to address the wider impacts on our communities.”

A 49-year-old male and a 37-year-old female from the Peterhead area will be appearing at Peterhead Sheriff Court regarding drug offences.
