Following news earlier this month that Aberdeenshire Council would conduct a deep clean of streets in and around the town centre, cleaners have been spotted getting to work on sections of footpaths in Broad Street.

Armed with power washers, sections of a footpath on Broad Street was closed off early last Thursday as Aberdeenshire Council employees got to work in the town centre.

Fraserburgh and district councillor Ian Tait detailed the clean to the Fraserburgh Herald previously, saying: “The pavements are in need of a good scrub and this should brighten things up.

“It will improve the appearance of the town for visitors, too. We want them to leave with a good impression of the town to recommend it to others.”

Councillor Tait revealed that the area he had requested Aberdeenshire Council to clean includes Caroline Place, Broad Street, Saltoun Square, Linds Brae, Kirk Brae, Commerce Street, Cross Street and High Street.

Aberdeenshire Council said that the deep clean would last for two weeks.

A council spokesperson said: “The washing of the streets in Fraserburgh will be undertaken over the next two weeks and efforts will be concentrated on the main shopping areas and the areas frequented by the public.”

Aberdeenshire Council have recently asked the public to have their say on the appearance of their local area.
