Dales Park pupils enjoy Shell science lessons
Emily, Carly, Elise (all P6) and Natalie (P7) during a Shell school workshop.
Pupils from Dales Park School were paid a special visit from Shell recently.
The Shell Education Service made the visit as part of a drive to promote science in primary schools.
Martin Wesley and Pat Duchart delivered the science-based lessons to P2/3, P4/5 and P6/7 pupils at the Peterhead school.
As part of the P6/7 workshop, pupils discussed energy and then built a toy which they were allowed to keep.
Commenting, Martin Wesley of Shell Education Service commented: “We visit 600 schools per year across the UK. So we see around 60,000 pupils.
“It is vital that we focus on primary school age pupils. If children have a bad experience of science at primary school, they are less likely to pursue it later on in their studies.
“We are trying to inspire them and give them skills. The country needs more scientists and Shell wants more scientists so we can solve energy problems.”
