College to host first ever open evening this week

Banff and Buchan College is to host its first ever Open Evening on Thursday in its refurbished £23 million main campus at Henderson Road, Fraserburgh.

The evening will start at 4.30pm and finish around 7.30pm. Staff from all departments will be on hand during the evening to offer advice on courses and to answer individual questions on a one-to-one basis.

Principal Paul Sherrington said: “I look forward to welcoming everyone to our college and would encourage visitors to take a good look around our impressive facilities.

“The campus provides students with a modern and innovative learning environment and with more than 500 courses available I’m sure there is a course that meets your needs whether full time; part-time; day release or an evening course.

“It’s an opportunity for you to come along and have an informal chat.”

Banff and Buchan offers a wide variety of courses at all levels from introductory programmes to higher national courses.

The departments include Administration; Art & Design; Business & Management; Care; Catering & Hospitality; Computing, ITC & Maths; Construction; Engineering Maintenance & Manufacture; Electrical & Electronic; Floristry; Hairdressing, Beauty & Complementary Therapies; Nautical; Social Sciences; Sport & Coaching; Supported Education; and Welding & Motor Vehicle.

The evening is open to the general public and anyone who has already applied or is thinking of applying t ocollege.

It’s a great opportunity to take a tour of the new facilities; chat with current students; take part in the interactive demonstrations; ask about funding; childcare provision; learning resources and generally get a flavour of what college life is really like.
