St Fergus raises funds for fireworks display.

A Buchan community has been fund-raising for an organised fireworks display.

Members of St Fergus Community Association held a last minute Bingo Tea and Children’s Disco recently to raise funds for the November 4 display.

The two events raised a combined total of just under £1,274 with an additional £150 of donations.

Commenting, Denise Nicolson, who is a member of St Fergus Community Association, said: “The days leading up to the weekend were a little nerve-racking as there weren’t many raffle prize donations and we weren’t sure about how many people would turn up. But in the end, the event went extremely well.

“There was a great community spirit. There was a queue of bingo players waiting to come in to the Bingo Tea and the children seemed to have a ball at the disco with numerous activities for them to try, as well as dancing and games.

“The Committee would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement, the donations of prizes and money, and for attending the events. Without their help, events such as this would not have been possible.”

The St Fergus Community Association Fireworks Display will take place on Sunday November 4 at 6pm at the Football Park. There will be novelties on sale and organisers are encouraging those who attend to remember and bring a torch.

The event will be managed by local award-winning business Fireworx Scotland Ltd.
