Boddam School are celebrating after winning the Peterhead and Buchan Tourism Initiative’s Art Competiton.

The school saw off competition from other schools in the area with Maud Primary School coming second and Pitfour Primary School in third place.

The competition was held on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16 in the Kemp Hall in Old Deer.

The event was very successful, due mostly to the commitment and hard work of the adults and children who entered the competition.

Chairman of the PBTI Derek Jennings said: “We would like to thank Viscountess Candida Petersham of Crimonmogate for the very difficult task of choosing the winners.

“We would also like to thank the artists, members of the tourism group, Kemp Hall and visitors who came to view the works of art.”

The school was gifted a cheque for £100 and primary seven Pupil Council Representatives Abbigail Johnman, 11, and Matthew McDonald, 11, accepted the cheque on the school’s behalf from Mr Jennings and Viscountess Petersham.

Mr Jennings added: “We had a very good response from local artists and schools with over 140 art works of a high standard submitted.

“We are running a visual arts competition next year with prizes for sculpting.”
