Police Scotland have name the 66-year-old man killed in a horror car crash near Boddam early yesterday morning as William Duthie.

Mr Duthie, who was from the Buchan area, was travelling south on the A90 in a blue Peugeot 508 when the two-car collision happened.

The driver of the other vehicle, a northbound black BMW X1, was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance with serious injuries.

The crash occurred around 6.50am and police officers closed the road between Longhave and Peterhead for several hours

Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are continuing and anybody who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
