Peterhead’s Morrisons store had some special helpers on the run-up to Christmas all in the name of charity.

The supermarket teamed up with the town’s Clerkhill and Meethill Schools and organised a bag pack to raise money for six charities as part of ITV’s Text Santa appeal.

Money raised will go to Age UK, Barnardo’s, BeatBullying, British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and Help the Hospices.

The bag pack took place on Thursday, December 12 with Clerkhill helping in the morning and Meethill in the afternoon.

The pupils were not alone as volunteers from the British Heart Foundation helped them pack customers’ shopping.

As a special thank you, the store provided pupils with Christmas Dinner.

As well as bag packing, two hampers were raffled off with money going to the Text Santa appeal.

Community Champion for Morrisons, Sheena Irvine said: “To be able to pull together as a community and raise money for such worthwhile causes is fantastic.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to all the children and volunteers who came out to help us and thanks to our customers for all their support.”
