Two Peterhead friends have generously donated a share of more than £4,500 to two worthy causes.

Natasha Shaw and Amy Stewart managed to raise a total of £4,641 by organising a number of fundraising events. They split the money and gave £2,214 to Cancer Research UK and £2,417 to the Peterhead Renal Unit.

The charity events included a Stars in Our Eyes night that was held in June, An Evening with Annie Moon in August, and quizzes, lucky numbers and sponsored yoga classes held throughout the year.

Money was also raised by Natasha and Joe Lang, who took part in a sponsored Ben Nevis climb, and Emma Greig, Ruth Lias, Jemma Gowans and Marite Daukste, who did a bungee jump.

Natasha and Amy have thanked sponsors DS Decorating Services, Scott Shaw Roofing Contractors and Davidsons Marine & Industrial Painters.

They extend their thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes, including Morrisons, Peterhead FC, Tanning Co, Serenity, Creative Style, Justrite, Buchan Braes, Louise at Havivah and the Grange Inn.

Assistant manager of the Peterhead shop, Audrey Bartlet, said: “The volunteers and myself wish to thank Amy and Natasha for their very generous gift to Cancer Research UK. It was a lovely surprise when they arrived at the shop with the cheque and nice to hear their stories of how they managed to raise so much for charity.

“Cancer Research UK relies on the generosity of people like Amy and Natasha.”
