The Peterhead lifeboat was called out at the weekend after receiving reports that two youths were in trouble off Buchanhaven pier.

The lifeboat was requested to launch on Sunday, March 5 at 6.10pm after reports suggested the youths had possibly been washed off the pier.

The two youths were spotted on the pier that had large waves cascading over it.

The Peterhead lifeboat crew searched the area for around an hour and a half in poor conditions to trace the two youths.

However after a witness had reported seeing two ‘begraggled’ youths leaving the area to the police and coastguard, the lifeboat was stood down at approximately 7.40pm.

The lifeboat returned to its berth at 8pm.

Peterhead lifeboat is always interested to hear from anyone wishing to help save lives at sea by joining the crew or fundraising team.
