Peterhead and Buchan Tourism Initiative’s Buchan Arts Forum was held in the Kemp Hall, Old Deer in September.

Once again, it was a very successful event due mostly to the commitment and hard work of the adults and children who entered.

The event was judged by Lady Petersham of Crimonmogate, who is a world renowned sculptress.

There was a very good response from local artists and schools with more than 200 works of art of a very high standard submitted.

This year’s school section was won by Kininmonth Primary school with Peterhead’s Meethill Primary second.

The school’s section was sponsored by Lady Petersham and she agreed to present a cheque to head teacher Mrs Mair.

Lady Petersham discussed some of the sculptures and paintings with the pupils and said it was very obvious that even at an early age she could see who our future artists will be. Aberdeenshire Council’s education department should be advised that this is not the standard school uniform for Kininmonth Primary - the pupils were raising money for ‘Children in Need’!
