Bert Fowlie Butchers of Strichen welcomed 15 youngsters who took part in a special competition recently.
The butcher’s shop invited children to paint ceramic piggy-bank cows and return them for judging. The competition started as a promotion by Quality Meat Scotland. Twenty ceramic cows were handed out along with leaflets and paints. Of the 20 youngsters who took part in the competition, 15 returned their cows.
All of the participants were between two and nine years of age. Everyone who took part received a goody bag including a cone of sweets, while the winners received money, a mug, sweeties and a bag for life.
Commenting, proprietor Hebbie Fowlie said: “It is great to encourage people to come into the shop including young kids.
“The children enjoyed it and put in a lot of effort. We would like to thank everyone who participated.”
