Inner Wheel marks golden occasion

President Sheila Allan welcomed a company of 40 to celebrate the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Peterhead Inner Wheel Club at The Waterside Hotel.

The event was attended by District chairman Pat Johnston, Rotary president Elaine Taylor, past presidents, two of whom had travelled from as far afield as Plymouth and Kent, and members of the Inner Wheel clubs of Banff, Aberdeen, Ellon and Fraserburgh.

The Candle of Friendship was lit by Pat Johnston and the celebration cake was cut by Grace Bruce, the longest-serving member of the club.

Immediate past president Sheena Willox said the grace and a very enjoyable lunch was served by the staff of the hotel.

After lunch, Sheila Allan proposed the Loyal Toast and the Toast to Absent Friends.

Rotary president Elaine Taylor proposed the toast to the club and a certificate to mark the occasion was presented by the District chairman.

Musical entertainment followed provided by Gordon Hay, Liz Slaven and Frances Lamb much to the enjoyment of everyone.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Mae Emslie and the occasion was rounded off with afternoon tea and cake.

The Rotary Club of Peterhead is to be thanked for the very generous donation towards the event.
