Peterhead Scottish Week’s raft race was watched by hundreds of folk who headed to the town’s Lido on a beautiful summer evening.
A new course was marked out in the marina this year, allowing the crowds to see the rafts for longer.
A total of nine teams competed under the new rules which included no rudders.
While seven-time winners FreshCatch took an early lead it was the team from McGill Valeting that won for the second time in three years.
Team captain David McGillvray was delighted to win the event outright as opposed to their last victory in 2012 due to the disqualification that year of FreshCatch.
Graciously both teams shook hands at the end of what many thought was the closest and most eventful raft race since its reintroduction to the programme in 2011.
The team from Score Group made sure they finished in the top three for the second year running while three-time former winners Asco returned to the event and won best fancy dressed crew as Noah’s Ark.
Entrants for next year’s raft race have already approached event organiser Scott Ross.
