House deferred by Buchan councillors

An application to erect a house in New Deer has been deferred so that the applicant can return to the committee with more information.

The application from Mr and Mrs K MacDonald, of Hareshowe of Ironside, New Deer was put before members at the Buchan Area Committee last week .

Planning officials have recommended to refuse the application as it does not comply with Policy Hou/4: New Housing in the Countryside including the Aberdeenshire Part of the Cairngorms National Park, in that it does not include, a new house which is essential to the efficient operation of an enterprise which is in itself appropriate to the countryside.

The applicant’s agent submits that the house is required for an essential worker on the farming operation at Hareshowe of Ironside, however no information was supplied to support this statement.

Central Buchan councillor Norman Smith (pictured), suggested that the application be deferred for the applicant to come back with more information regarding the requirement of the dwellinghouse.

Members voted and agreed the motion, and the application is deferred until the next committee meeting.
