Inspirational individuals with learning disabilities have pledged to run in the annual Baker Hughes 10k race in what will be a truly inclusive event.
Harry (55) is supported by local charity Inspire and has registered to compete for the second time to raise funds for the organisation. He hopes to demonstrate to the wider public the capabilities of people with disabilities.
Harry, who lives in supported accommodation in Peterhead, ran the 2010 race in a very steady 1hr 39mins.
However, his fundraising efforts made him an instant winner having raised in excess of £500 for Inspire, well above the minimum £60 that the organisation asks for.
This year Harry hopes to “have fun and raise lots and lots of money for Inspire”.
Fiona Poustie, Head of Fundraising and Marketing, says that both men are a true inspiration, “Bobby and Harry are not only helping Inspire by raising essential funds which will be used in our services, but they are setting a standard for other people with disabilities, and proving to the general public that they are just the same as all the rest of us.”
