Craigewan Photographic Group recently hosted the 2016 Grampian Eye regional club photographic competition.
A total of 14 clubs participated in this year’s competition which was judged by the first ever female judge, Margaret Elliot DPAGB EFIAP from Dumfries.
Donside CC and Moray CC came 1st equal at the end.
The top local team was the area’s newest club Craigewan PG finishing 4th overall behind the winning two and Bon Accord CC and Granite City CC.
The event was held at Peterhead Academy on Saturday, April 30.
Over 120 members from various clubs turned up for the whole day event.
Margaret gave only five images full marks of 20/20 and one of these was Craigewan’s Charlie Bruce with his “Winter comes” image of a Ptarmigan captured in the Cairngorms National Park.
The Chairman’s choice from all the images was Sleep Bathing.
Craigewan PG would like to give special thanks to the sponsors - Sealco ltd, Ocean Endevour, Zanres Fish & Chip shop, Dolphin Cafe and William McNeil Photography.
They also wish to give another big thank you to the Buchan Braes who put the judge and her husband up free of charge.
Raffle prizes were donated from Mifsuds, Marathon, Bob’s Buddies and Bill McLean, who is a member of Craigewan, who matched what was collected by other members at the club for purchasng some photographic prizes.
Many clubs also brought along raffle prizes on the day.
The group would like to give a final thanks to Rio Sandwich Express for the excellent buffet they received.
Craigewan’s chairman Peter Lewis was pleased with the way the event went and would like to thank all his members who helped make the day such a success.
He said: “Once all the costs are paid out, any money left over goes to charity. We chose Maggie’s and we hope to have more news on the amount we were left with soon.”
